LEGACY Day #4
Read Psalm 1
How happy is the one who does not walk in the advice of the wicked or stand in the pathway with sinners or sit in the company of mockers! Instead, his delight is in the Lord’s instruction, and he meditates on it day and night. He is like a tree planted beside flowing streams that bears its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers. The wicked are not like this; instead, they are like chaff that the wind blows away. Therefore the wicked will not stand up in the judgment, nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous. For the Lord watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked leads to ruin.

In life, we take all sorts of paths, career, where to live, who to marry, how we treat people. This passage includes instruction for how God wants us to live, paths not to go down, but also how we should go.
Verse 2 gives instruction on how a blessed or happy man should live. Meditating on God’s Word day and night is more than just reading a verse here and there. Meditating is pondering, focusing on, having God’s Word impact your way of living.
Verse 3 shows a beautiful image of what this looks like. By planting ourselves by the spiritual water, we will become healthy and strong in our faith, yielding fruit, in season.
A tree not planted beside life giving water will wither and die. It’s easily blown over by life’s storms.
Application:
Give your faith life-giving spiritual water today by studying God’s Word. Don’t just read through it quickly to check it off your list. Ponder it, meditate on the truth you read, let it provide spiritual water to your soul.

Way too often I get caught up in checking a box. Instead, I must spend more time meditating!
