Spiritual Leadership

What Adam's Identity Means for Men Today

Men are continually told that they are supposed to be the “spiritual leader”, but what does it mean to be a spiritual leader? Does it mean you have to be a pastor or teacher? When God created man, he gave him a specific role and responsibility: keeper of the garden. A Godly man is one who embraces this role; providing the example of a spiritual leader to his family, protecting them at all costs, and unwaveringly follows God's Word and trusts His leading.

Temptation & Accountability

Sin is destructive. That reality is so clear all throughout scripture. The wages of sin is death. The work of Jesus opens the potential for forgiveness and freedom. In his power, and following his plan, we can overcome the strongholds of sin in our lives. To find that victory, we have to get honest about temptation and active in accountability. In this workshop, you will dig into scripture to discover the resources at our disposal to battle temptation and how to develop a healthy structure of accountability.

Meet the team.

Casey Harris

Casey Harris is in his 24th year of ministry in the local church. Casey is one of the original core team members and the first student pastor at Vintage Church. He now co-leads the Men's Community Group. He and his wife Rebecca have been married for 16 years and they have three children: Teely (13), Tessa (9), and Axel (5). He and Rebecca are the owners and operators of Round Mountain Farm. He is passionate about helping men to pursue the calling that God has placed on their lives.

Matt Smith

Matt Smith is the founding and lead pastor of Vintage Church. He and his wife Ashley have been married for nearly 23 years. They have twins, teenagers, Aidan and Leah. Matt loves to teach and preach. Communicating truth in a way that challenges and inspires is his most favorite thing to do. He has spent over two decades trying to move people into maturity in their faith. His conversational style, along with humor, and authenticity help people connect to God’s Word in a way that is relevant and transformative.

John Ingold

John Ingold is the husband of Aggie Ingold and father to Lila and Finn Ingold. He has been attending Vintage and men’s community group since 2019. John loves to research, read, and seek inspiration from God’s word. His road to finding Jesus was full of speculation but he is living proof that with God nothing is impossible. John is the CEO of BETA Fueling Systems, which is a member of C12 that aims to run their businesses as a ministry and for a greater purpose.

Tommy Smith

Tommy has had the privilege of serving Vintage Church since its inception. He is a retired ordained minister, an elder at Vintage and he and his wife Jo lead the Second Half Community Group. They had the privilege of pastoring for 40+ years and their life’s goal has been to serve the Lord by loving His people and being an example to them. Tommy says he is, “...sensing God’s presence and praising Him daily for what He is doing in and through Vintage Church. I’m thankful for God’s gifts of our children, Pastor Matt and Leslie, and our grandchildren, Aidan and Leah, and realize the great responsibility I, as their dad and Pop, have to be sure my life is always pointing them to Jesus.”

Lyle Denton

Lyle Denton is one of the original core team of Vintage Church and has served on staff since its inception, first as the worship pastor and currently as the COO. Lyle married up, for sure, somehow convincing Jasmyn to marry him 15 years ago. They now have three amazing children who are mostly well-behaved and always asking their dad to build stuff for them (like tree houses and off-grid cabins). Lyle loves to spend time rebuilding a vintage motorcycle, kindling fires for Jasmyn to tend, and taking naps. He is also a wicked-good bass player. Lyle one day hopes to own a beachfront home on Captiva Island where he can maybe figure out how to tan his legs.

Thomas Richardson

Thomas Richardson has been part of Vintage Church for almost 10 years now. He is married to his high school sweetheart and they have a little boy who is two and half years old. He currently works in floor covering sales for a company based out of Greensboro. Thomas likes sports and reading. In fact, he just finished reading the entire Bible for the second time this year! Thomas mostly enjoys being outside and spending time with people he loves.

Chris and Nikki Foster

Chris and Nikki and their 3 children Marin, Turner and Griffin, have attended Vintage Church since 2013. Nikki and Chris lead the marriage ministry which entails, premarital counseling, Married Couples Community Group, marriage mentorship and annual retreats for the staff couples of Vintage Church. They are both graduates of Liberty University and now work for Community Based Care, an organization that serves individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities. Chris enjoys traveling, spending time with his family and all things Carolina Panthers. Nikki enjoys cooking, traveling and movies with the family. The Fosters currently reside in Greensboro, NC.

Preston Steele

Preston Steele is the highly energetic student pastor at Vintage Church and sells K-Cups to people who don’t want to grind their own coffee because that is the job that actually pays him cash dollars. Preston outkicked his coverage 19 years ago when he lured Wendy into marrying him. She’s mostly ok with it and has birthed two incredible sons to carry on Preston’s athletic prowess. When not managing students or peddling coffee pods, Preston can be found hitting the gym or coaching soccer sidelines at the Y. Preston is kind-hearted and wise, but competitive to the core, so only engage with him in sports or conversation if you are actually good or willing to lose.

Austin Davis

Originally from Denver, NC, Austin attended Western Carolina University before moving to Randolph County 10 years ago. He is a high school PE teacher at Uwharrie Charter Academy where he coaches girl’s basketball and men’s golf. He and his wife Megan have been married for five years and have two young children, Rylan and Harper. They’ve been at Vintage Church for seven years and served in a variety of roles including Pre-K, V-Kids, Vintage Students, and the Young Adult Community Group. Austin currently serves in Vintage Students where he leads the high school boys small group. He is also involved with the global initiative in the Czech Republic. In his free time, Austin enjoys traveling with his family and playing basketball and golf.

Scott Soule

Scott Soule and his wife, Tara have 2 children, Nicholas and William and have been part of Vintage Church for the last 6 years. One of the most significant experiences in his discipleship to Jesus was a Sunday night series called Released in the Word at Vintage. Scott says, “Love for Jesus means putting Him first in my life.” Fun fact about Scott is that he spends every Saturday morning with their 2 dogs taking them to the gym and getting a biscuit.

Rex Knight

Rex is from Candor, NC currently living in Seagrove with his wife, Marchelle, and their two children, Abrielle and Edward. Rex earned his degree from Wake Forest University. He and his wife currently own and operate Zoo City Financial helping protect families’ financial futures since 2014. They currently work from home and homeschool their children.
